BEWARE THE MILLOM DOGS! By Slu Clarke ‡ 2014
Cuts are getting critical,
they're closing Millom hospital,
no more nurses, no more care,
SHUT IT IF YOU BLOODY DARE!
you think you'll win without a fight?
you have'nt heard of the millomite!
go ahead and commit this sin,
you've picked a fight you'll never win!
come the moment, come the hour,
we'll show you what is people power,
you want to get rid of our nurses,
and end up putting us in hearses,
Millom folk are full of grit,
we've had enough, wont stand for it,
make your play , call it political,
dont mess with others lives when critical,
so, if you dare to shake our tree,
beware the solidarity,
for every effort we will make,
and rectify your gross mistake!
so if you think this will recede,
we're now backed up by Jamie reed,
and our message has been sent,
through the houses of parliament!
our message is to those of you,
you've bit off more than you can chew,
you're simple act of deliberation,
has upset the Millom population!
you cut us back, down to the bone,
now leave our hospital alone!!
sitting in offices, so contrite,
beware the Millom dogs, WE BITE!!
MILLOMITE!! By Slu Clarke ‡ 2014
In years to come, folks will say,
i was there on the 7th of may,
the sky was grey the rain came down,
we marched in it through millom town,
proudly united on tv,
millom, for the world to see,
the yellow masses, side by side,
undefeatable millom pride
masses voted with their feet,
and came from every millom street,
parents children, buddy, pal,
saving millom hospital,
a happy lass, a jolly fellow,
millom, in a sea of yellow!
like times before in years gone by,
we came as one, we wouldnt die,
we marched together all with pride,
FOR THE HOSPITAL THAT NEVER DIED!
WE WILL NOT FADE INTO THE NIGHTS,
STAND TALL, BE PROUD........YOUR MILLOMITES !!!
THE ANGEL OF THE FLOWERS By Slu Clarke ‡ 2014
I strolled around the town today,
remembering last nights happy hours,
and on my thoughts began to play,
just who donated all the flowers?
The only thing that i can say,
and i mean it said, with heart and soul,
a special angel came our way!
to Millom's doorstep they did call!
People carried them with care,
with pride for everyone to see,
yellow flowers everywhere,
perhaps in someones memory?
Perhaps they didn't want a fuss,
be made about their kind donation?
and so remained anonymous,
and silently remembered a loved relation.
A sea of yellow at the end,
lovingly placed on hospital ground,
a broken heart too hurt to mend?
a special love no more around?
A daily thought, a silent tear,
for one in this hospital long ago?
a constant wish that they were here?
i guess, we'll really never know!
I wish so much, i knew this soul,
they've made me think for many hours,
your kindness meant so much to all,
who are you, angel of the flowers?
ONE YEAR ONE By Slu Clarke ‡ 2015
A year ago this very day,
a certain girl, received a letter,
one single cry, a lonely plea,
for all of us, to make things better,
there in type the words she'd see,
there's none like our community,
the tale of woe came forth from those,
who our hospital, they'd try to close,
but one year on, despite their gaffing,
the dogs who bit,
are the ones who's laughing,
so very much to their surprise,
the yellow bomb hit them, between the eyes,
for bargained they, without foresight,
the power of the Millomite,
who in their thousands came together,
and worried not about our weather,
or elements they might have to brave,
a hospital they had to save,
a place for us , so much in need,
they felt our wrath, they did indeed,
take heed of what we had to say,
we wouldn't wilt or fade away,
we didn't beg on bended knees,
and took all authorities,
the bomb was dropped, our voices heard,
the power of the spoken word,
we didn't skulk off, into in the night,
we bared our teeth, they felt our bite,
and future generations will look back and see,
how we carved this into Millom's history,
they'll never forget us, and we haven't gone,
as we look back with pride now,
one year on!
